Replacing my Asus EeePC 1000he LCD screen

Having put my elbow through my screen, as seen here previously, I  bought a new screen from RunPDA on eBay. It worked like a charm, but it struck me that the instructions left a little to be desired.

Accordingly, here is the record of my own repair, in the hope that it will be helpful to others:

1000he screen replacement

IMPORTANT UPDATE:  My  screen didn’t have a legible part number, which turns out to be HSD100IFW1, manufactured by HannStar. Google that part number; it is available from several suppliers. The RunPDA screen works but as noted has a slight fit issue; it sits a bit high, obscuring the top row of pixels.

  1. Thanks – I closed my 1000HE screen on an earphone and cracked it, and plan to buy a replacement. I appreciate your record.

  2. I wish I could have read your diary of repairs, but for some reason it didn’t download with the rest of the page. Don’t know if it’s mine server/computer or yours.

  3. I really, really hate digging around in laptops, so your guide has proved invaluable. Thanks for doing this so I didn’t end up destroying my machine!

  4. Excellent guide. However, I have a 1000HE, and I have to note that there are two screws beneath the “false hinge” portions of the keyboard tray/trackpad piece. Both are in the bottom rear. These are two additional screws that need to be removed in my edition of the 1000HE, before you remove the keyboard tray and access the motherboard.

  5. Awesome guide, saved me at least an hour in disassembly time. Thanks for the assist!!!
