Prop. 8 Overturned in District Court

Good for Judge Walker, who turned out a very fine and thorough ruling. Read it here, if you like – apologies for any formatting errors.

The judge put a temporary stay on the ruling, which should be removed (hopefully) or continued sometime within the week. I can’t see any good reason to continue it, but then I don’t see any good reason why gays marrying each other is even an issue.

Next it goes to the Sixth Circuit court on appeal, then most likely on to SCOTUS. I don’t have much faith in the current Supreme Court, but this is a pretty solid ruling and even the RATS (Roberts, Alito, Thomas and Scalia) would have to contort pretty baldly to overturn it, I think… but then again those dudes regularly swallow elephants while choking on gnats in order to exercise their conservative judicial activism.
